MBRP-RA Workshop Learning Objectives: As a result of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Gain familiarity with the research supporting MBRP and MBRP-RA
Summarize basic concepts of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation
Observe and participate in demonstrations of mindfulness meditation exercises
Understand the utility of MBRP-RA for substance use disorders
Gain familiarity with MBRP-RA implementation and facilitation

 Intended Audience: This workshop is intended for medical and mental healthcare practitioners including psychologists, social workers, counselors, nurses, psychiatrists, physicians, graduate students.

 General Enrollment Fees: The fee for enrollment into this MBRP-RA workshop is $75, Graduate students' fee is waived (Please contact for code waiver). Payment includes access to the full-day training (9:00AM – 4:00PM, EST), and access to MBRP-RA treatment resources. Six (6) continuing education credits will be awarded through APA following the full- participation and conclusion of the event.

 West Chester University has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education (Section 47.36 (a)(1) ) for LSW and LCSW social workers, (Section 48.36(a)(1)) for LMFT, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, and (Section 49.23(a)(1) for LPC, Licensed Professional Counselors by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.

Presenters:

Michael Gawrysiak, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor of psychology at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.  He has completed formalized trainings in MBRP, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. He is experienced implementing mindfulness programming for Veterans struggling with posttraumatic stress disorder, and mindfulness programming for after issues (e.g. stress-management, depression, and substance use disorder). Currently, he provides MBRP-RA at Gaudenzia, Inc. for individuals struggling with opioid addiction and is a teacher within the Penn-Medicine Penn Program for Mindfulness. 

Dr. Corey Roos is Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine, as well as a licensed clinical psychologist. His research aims to improve the accessibility, effectiveness, and efficiency of treatments for psychiatric disorders, particularly substance use disorders (SUD). He has expertise in the science and practice of mindfulness-based interventions, including the aftercare intervention for SUD called Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP). He is currently working on developing a self-guided multi-media web-based version of MBRP, as part of a K23 grant funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
